Fernhurst Cricket Club I'Anson 1st XI v Bramley on Sat 15 May 2010 at 14:00
Fernhurst Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report Three matches down and three wins in the bag, the strongest side that Fernhurst have mustered for many years took to the field against a Bramley side, who finished 3rd last year, but whose results seem strangely out of sorts in 2010.

Fernhurst won the toss and opted to bowl, with their opening bowlers starting out in miserly fashion as normal, restricting the run rate to around two runs an over. Ford was looking comfortable, but his partners were struggling and five wickets went down before 70 runs were reached. Foster, Bristow, Winn and Lewis were sharing the wickets, but it was Lewis's runout throw from the boundary that really kept morale high. However, Bramley's tail began to wag, with both Pearce and Bennett striking the ball firmly to give the scoreboard a much more respectable look. A couple more wickets fell as Bramley used the full 48 overs, but Fernhurst couldn't quite find the last wicket as Bramley finished on 172 for 9 off 48 overs.

One thing that Fernhurst knew was strong was the batting line-up. With Mike Allen lining up at number 7, as well as two scorers of 50s and one centurion from last weekend lower down the order - none of whom would eventually be required to bat. Bramley are known to also have a strong bowling attack, but injuries to Pearce and Pugsley did not assist them, so it was not surprising to see Boutell showing his front foot driving prowess and some lusty blows from Dowdell. The opening batsmen quickly got into their stride with the fifty being reached in the 11th over, and a century partnership began to look likely until Dowdell got a thick top edge and was caught on 42, with the score on 96. Boutell continued as he had started, ably supported by Foster, soon reaching his 50 and looking like a big score was on the cards. However, Bennett had been causing some trouble with his zippy bowling action, and was the one to finally remove Boutell for an impressive 83. Usman Tanweer joined Foster at the crease, and they cruised through to the target of 173 in just 29.4 overs.

Fernhurst go to Dogmersfield to try to continue their impressive start to the season.
