Jon Meier elected Chairman
2nd XI Captain Jon Meier was elected as Fernhurst CC's new Chairman at the club's AGM on November 14th. It follows the decision by Derek Pope to stand down after five years in charge. Derek was present to hear fulsome praise from the President John Mitchell and others and there is little doubt he leaves the Chair with FCC in far better shape than he found it in 2014. As one of our Vice Presidents we look forward to seeing Derek at the first match of 2020.
Jon is the outgoing Treasurer and will continue acting in that role until a new volunteer steps forward. He pointed out the weekly spreadsheet workload is now minimal but the club certainly needs more members to help out in various roles. Most of the other committee positions will be continued by those in post. Sunday XI Captain Simon Vigar formalises his PR role with the new post of Communications Manager. This great, new website and a re-designed fixture card will come under his remit.
The AGM also voted to increase membership subscriptions from £50 to £60 for both juniors and adults (with a discount for junior siblings). Nonetheless, Fernhurst CC still has one of the lowest subs of any local club. Match fees remain the same for another year: £10 for adults and £5 for juniors.
The functionality of this new website will reduce admin for the various office holders. Subs, news and team selections all come through here so members are encouraged to get stuck in.
