We have two Saturday I'Anson league teams, 1st XI and 2nd XI and one, non-league Sunday XI team.
We play in the I'Anson League which is reputedly the oldest village cricket league. It is a tri-county competition comprising of towns and villages from this area of the Sussex/Hampshire/Surrey borders. One of the key attractions of the I'Anson is that all the teams have to be within 12 miles of Grayshott which means that travel distances are low and there are plenty of local derbies to be had. The standard of cricket is good with the chance to play at some picturesque grounds. The matches are a mixture of traditional format and limited overs with the 1st XI playing 90 overs in an afternoon and the 2nd XI playing 80.
The aim of these teams is to continue to compete at the highest level possible whilst bringing through the junior players which will sustain the success of the club in the long term; all of this is done with a great sense of team work and enjoyment which is second to none in the I'Anson league.
The Sunday XI team plays friendlies with local villages and a number of 'nomadic' teams, including Sir Tim Rice's 'Heartaches'. Some matches are limited overs while others are 'old school' timed games. We are fortunate to play at some historic grounds, including Arundel Castle, Goodwood House and Petworth Park. One of the main roles is to introduce our juniors to senior cricket in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Whatever your ability, there is a team for everyone at Fernhurst so please get in touch using the 'contact' tab above.
Junior male players from Under 13 to Under 18 are welcome to play in the men's team. If the player is interested the parent/guardian can provide consent on their Junior online membership form.
The season runs from late April to September. Members take advantage of the all-weather nets at the Fernhurst Recreation Ground as well as arranging some indoor winter net sessions at local schools or sports centres. Membership is £70 a year. Match fees are £10 on the day for adults or £5 for Junior players participating in Men's fixtures. There is lots of useful information below including FAQs.
