Sunday XI

Sunday XI

The Sunday XI friendlies team has been playing fixtures since our first recorded season in 1889, although most of the players have changed since then. We faced our neighbours Lynchmere then and we are still playing them now. The fixture list has expanded somewhat from three matches to 20 as, alongside local villages, we also play several 'nomadic' teams which don't have their own grounds. Among them are the Ancient Mariners, the BBC Bushmen and Sir Tim Rice's Heartaches XI.

We are an informal, non-league side offering players of all abilities and ages an opportunity to play in friendly but competitive matches in the beautiful setting of Fernhurst Recreation Ground. Sunday cricket is all about 'dads and lads' and it is a great introduction to senior cricket for U13 players and above.

There is great strength-in-depth in the catering department and it has frequently won the accolade for 'best tea on the circuit'. Along with the fun atmosphere, the great attraction of this side is you can choose how many games you want to play, be it two or ten. So, go on, dig out those whites and register below.
