Tribute to former Club President

We are saddened to report the death of our former President Trevan Hingston. Long-standing members will know how important he was to the club and we send our condolences to his family.

The picture shows Trevan (left) on his retirement from the Presidency in 2009. Sir Tim Rice, who remains a Vice President of FCC, presented him with six Waterford crystal tumblers.

Trevan's successor, John Mitchell, said "He was a wonderful President of FCC. Although it was long ago since he was able to see cricket played, he both attended and followed Fernhurst and England [an MCC member] with a rare passion. He was a great man who will be hugely missed."

There will be a private family funeral, with a later memorial service, probably in April.

In Trevan's honour, the pavilion Union Jack has been half-masted for a few days. His name lives on at Fernhurst CC in one of the 1st XI trophies, which he donated years ago; it is for the player who achieves the most 'Man of the Match' nominations in a season.
